President Ashraf Ghani on his first day of official 4-day visit to China met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to confer on economic and political cooperation.
The parties discussed expansion of bilateral cooperation in the spheres of security, economic, education, trade and culture.
President Ghani called on Chinese companies to reap investment opportunities in Afghanistan’s transportation, construction and railway projects.
He added that Afghanistan would become an economic junction in the region within the next 20 years and have a direct transit link with China through Wakhan corridor.
Afghanistan signed four Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with China on ease of political visa arrangement, China’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, and economic and technical cooperation between the two nations.
